Not fair??

Two teachers teach the same subject. In comparing the teachers style of teaching one seems to be a lot harder. Students with harder teacher feels this difference is not fair. For some students it makes staying eligible for athletics harder. Students concerned with class rankings also call unfair.

- What is good or bad about this senario?
- Which teacher would you want and why?
- How could this situation be made more fair?

  • I really don't think it is fair. Yeah, almost every kid would want the teacher that doesn't do anything and just sits there and does there own thing, but when you really think about it, you would want the teacher that is hard and actually teaches because when you have to take the TAKS test your more likely to pass it. And all the other kids that have the "lazy" teacher is probably going to fail it, and have to repeat the grade.

I think the "lazy" teacher should get fired because when your a teacher you get paid to teach, not to sit around.

  • I think that there is nothing bad about having a hard teacher, yeah you might fail the class but it's becasue you're actually trying harder in your work. There is nothing bad about a challenge I would actually like to be in that class, becasue you can learn alot from the harder classes.

  • I think that the harder teacher should realy take his time in teaching his class he dosent have to rush his class for them to do well.Teaching dosent have to be hard on the kids

  • I would choose the harder teacher but they could at least lighten up a little. I agree with strawberry cause I would want to be prpared for the taks test. I also think, like I said, that the harder teacher could make their work a little easier so the students can get it through their head and understand it.

  • The good thing is that the people in the harder class is learning something. The people in the easy class probably isn't learning very much. I would probably want the harder teacher so I could learn something more than what the easy class is learning. The easy class probably isn't learning very much.

  • I think that it is fair because kids need to learn things not just sit around and do nothing. I would want the harder teacher because he would teach you about whatever class it is and the other teacher would just let his kids sit in their chairs and talk to eachother. I think the only way that this situation could be made fair by getting the teacher who doesn't really teach his students should be fired or start to teach his kids.

  • I don't think it is fair. Both teachers should do the same assainments. If I had to choose a sertain teacher, I should pick the harder teacher. They will make you smarter. The easy teacher should start doing his/her job because their not.

  • It's not about fairness, it's about just being lazy. A lot of people want the easy teacher so they can just slack off in that class and get an easy A. When the TAKS test comes though, they'll be sorry! They'll most likely fail, then they won't be accepted into the next grade, or they'll have to go to Summer school...won't that be fun? Here's the part that's not fair though. The easy teacher will probably make their exam EASY! The hard teacher obviously will make their exam more challenging! So, that's the part that's not fair at all!

  • I agree with strawberry, I would rather have the harder teacher if I had a choice between the two. If you had the lazier teacher for my teacher, then most likely I wouldnt learn the things I need th know to pass the TAKS test. I the lazier teacher was to "teach" the class, then not only would i fail because he didnt teach correcrly, then the rest of the students in the class would also fail. Therefore, if the majority of the class failed then the school wouldnt the exceptional thing that Union Grove has won several years in a row.

  • I think that a bunch of people would want the lazy teacher because they don't want to learn. Iwould rather have the harder teacher because I would be more likely to graduate than the other people that have the lazy teacher.

  • Yes, I agree with trent2010 the harder teacher should slow down and break it down like in to easier to understand that way you can get the question to work it out and get the answer!

  • It is not fair. For one, the one that has has the hard teacher learns more. The other one gets by easy. To make it fair they should have the same rules and teach the same things.

  • I don't think it's fair because people in the easy class are getting by easy. I think the harder teacher should go a little easier on his kids so they can at least pass. If kids in his class try hard and still fail then his class is too hard. Smarter kids are gettin bad grades and the stupid people are passin with good grades.

  • I think that life isn't fair and that when you grasp that situation life is going to be a lot easier for you.If you have a hard teacher you need to accept that and deal whith it.I mean I guess the teachers could talk and mabey the easy teacher could tell the other one some of his or her methods and him or her could try to take them in, but you have a tex book and I know that its not the easiest way to study but its where your teachers get the questions for the tests and work sheets and assignments.

  • I would want the harder teacher. I hate school more than anything, but thre harder teacher would help me in the long run. The more work you do the better your transcript looks. The better your transcript the better the colledge. The better the colledge the better the job

  • That isn't fair to the students who are taught by harder teachers. I like to make all A's in my classes, so I would pitch a fit knowing that someone else was learning the same thing but making better grades. The problem could be the student and not the teacher. Some students do not comprehend certain subjects at the same pace as others. So the students might just think that the teacher is harder to cover up how slow they are.

  • Hey,

Of course I would rather have the easier teacher because I dont have to do anything. The only bad thing about having an easy teacher is when taks comes around you dont know anything. Yes, you get to have fun all year and then taks comes around and you dont know anything. If you have a hard teacher you wont like the teacher so you wont want to learn from a mean teacher. The teacher needs to lay back some and not give you alot of work every day.You brain needs a rest from working all day. Lunch is not a rest time from work because you cant talk to your friends your to busy eating. I think once a month we should have a free day. We are doing what you want us to do all year so why not give us one day to do something we want.

  • I think that having a harder teacher will hellp you learn how to deal with colledge and the real world better. You will learn more also, wich will come in handy to get a job. So, yes it is fair.

  • I don't think it's fair. I think both teachers should do things equally. Teach the same, be just as strict, ect. I know that it is harder to pass athletics with the harder teacher but schoolwork should come first. Athletics is a privelege and to get priveleges you have to earn them (especially around my house!) So I think both teachers need to be fair.

  • I do not think that that situation is fair because like resas-pieces said its not fair to the students that have to work hard and there gonna get teased by the other students and not work to their potential and fail while the other class is doing nothing and passing.

  • I personally think that it is the teachers fault. If one teacher is harder than another one than they should be the one to fix that. Kids are obviously going to want the easier teacher so they can pass to play in a basketball game or run a track meet, But it is also the kids fault for not wanting to take full advantage of the oppurtuitys we are given today and not wanting to learn. That is just stupid! so the teacher and the students are at fault here.

  • I don't think it is fair to have one teacher teach the same subject, and one teacher teaches harder. But I feel that kid tend to pass more when people are not as hard on them. I would like to have a easyer teacher. Why because if your teacher isn't as hard. But sometimes the harder teacher is better even though you might not realize it then when you get older you will undrestand it more. I don't like some of my teachers but I like the fact that they make me do my work because it is just helping you out in the long run. The smarter you are the better the job you will get. That is why I think it could go both ways as in having a harder teacher and a easyer teacher.

  • I think that people will what the easy teacher but if thay w to git smarter thay will go to the hared techer some people need to go to the hared teacher but thay will go to the easy theacher that is what i think.

  • I think the teachers should be fun and yet learning. School should be fun not boring the strick teacher should be more loose and not strick

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tuesday, March 07, 2006 8:13:00 AM

  • I think that it is the teachers fault if one teacher harder than the other one then they should be the ones to fix that problem. Most kids do not make the best decisions, like wanting an easier teacher so that they can play some kind of sport. They should want to learn and challenge themselves, but kids do have to be pushed at times.

  • I would want the harder teacher. Yeah I might get a little mad or angry that I could either be failing or behind, maybe I wouldn't but it is better then having the lazy teacher. With the lazy teacher I would not learn as much as I would if I had the other. I think its not fair. Those who want to be lazy can pick the lazy teacher, and those who want to learn or have a better education and passing, then should get to pick the one who will teach them.
