Is there a Santa Clause?

Why or why not is it appropriate to lie to children about Santa Clause?

  • I believe that there was a person like Santa Claus. Every Christmas, he gave presents to poor children. He was a skinny man, and wore a red cloak. His name was St. Nick. This is what my father told me, and it is what I believe in. The point of lying to childrern is to have them believe in something, even if it is a lie. Who knows if my dad lied to me, but I still believe in his story.

  • There is no such thing as Santa Claus. Over the years, the stories were different, more magical. Would you beleive if some fat guy could fit through a chimney? Not to be rude, but I personally think that Santa Claus was fake. Its just a way to celebrate something if you don't believe in God. So, that is what I think.

  • I think it is good to tell kids Santa is real. It makes Christmas fun for both the kids and the parents. My parents always talk about how they miss playing santa. When the kids find out that santa claus isnt' real it's not such a big deal. Usually they find out by the time their about 10 so they were probably already questioning if he was real or not.
Like Ashley said it's not that easy for someone to go down a dirty old chimney never mind a old fat man. And how would he keep his suit so red. Anyways....I still put out milk and cookies!=)

  • Hi!
I believe that there is a Santa Clause because usually my parents don't buy me the expensive stuff that I get from Santa. I also think that Santa Clause eats the cookies and milk that we leave out for him every year. I also think that it makes Christmas a lot more fun for us because then we always try to catch him, but he is just so sneaky!!! I think that Santa Clause does come down a chimney because he is magic and he can make himself small to fit down it. Well, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!!

  • I believe that Santa Clause is real, but not just some fat guy handing out presents. Santa Clause is every person that anonymously gave a present to someone else without expecting anything in return. Is is okay to tell children that Santa is real? Yes, because it is a cover up for the present that you gave and you know weather or not that person really enjoys their present because they'll tell you the truth about how they feel about a present if they think it's from someone else.

  • i dont really think parents should. i was told since i was about three that he existed so idont think parent s should sinse it mite just make the kids mad later

  • to everyone: I think that you shouldn't lie to your children because sooner or later you're gonna have to break their hearts. You do this by either telling them the truth or them finding out on their own. Some kids want to believe that Santa is real so bad that they end up being let down when the truth finally comes out. You shouldn't ever lie to your kids unless it's something ABSOLUTELY neccessary. It is nice to think about little elves in a toy workshop and Santa Clause coming down your chimney and giving presents, but really by this age you shouldn't believe in those kinds of fairy tales.

  • Well, every single one of my brothers and sisters and I, every since we were born, thought that Santa Clause was a big Joke and quite frankly was pretty stupid, and our parents never even told us he was.If you dont have kids that dont have enough common sense to figure out on thier own, Jump in immediatly! dont let them go around making complete fools of themselves even if other kids believe in the crazy notion! Tell them immediatly at the sign of any belief in santa Clause!

  • hey yall i think if they want to tell their kids their is a santa clause they can but if they don't it is their business. If you tell them it will cause heartbreak later, but if you don't they will feel left out. i think that santa was just made up to make children behave better around christmas and people are losing sight that it isn't just about the presents it is about the son of God being born.

  • It isn't rigth to lie to children but they are children and they can belive what ever they want to belive. There are many different stories about him. People belive different things and thats alrigth you can't force them to belive in anything.

  • Well, Santa was a real guy, like a long time ago, and he was known as St. Nick. People think of Santa as a magical man that flies to everyone's house on Christmas Eve and gives out presents. I think that people should tell children that there is a Santa Claus, even if it is a lie. That would give them something to look forward to every year. I know when I was little I always looked forward to leaving out milk and cookies for Santa, and I always got excited when I saw "To April, From Santa" on most of my presents. Even though there isn't a Santa, we should tell little kids that he is real. It makes them happy every Christmas. At first I thought you should tell kids the truth and not let them live in a lie, but then I thought about how happy I was when I was little and it would be saddening if children didn't know he was real.
Just hope no littler kids read this post! Haha, j/k. =P

  • one u make them feel bad and stuff then thay dont want to talk to you but they well embaressed them self if u dont tell them so that is why u should tell them that santa is not real

  • I belive that there was a person named santa claus but i don't think there ever was 1. Because if you think about it maybe that santa gave presents to the kids a his town and the news travled around the world. people started telling other people and it just got started that a fat guy in a red suit goes around the world giving out presents every christmas. ITS IMPOSSIBLE!

  • I don't think parents should lie to their children about Santa Claus. When you tell them he's not real (if you do) then they will wonder what else you have lied to them about. If you tell them there is a Santa and never tell them the truth then your just letting them believe the lie forever. Don't parents feel bad for lying to their kids? Plus it's wrong for kids to wait for Santa Claus to bring them presents once a year, but not care a thing about it being celebrated because its Jesus's birthday. Santa is cute for movies and stuff but its not cute to lie to your kids about it.

Hey! Its me! I'm moved in down here at my new house. I miss ya'll sooooooooo much. (And if I don't miss you, you know who you are.) LOL! I'll keep posting whenever I can. Love ya bunches! <3RESA<3

  • To: April
    From: Santa
Sorry I couldn't resist! I'm not trying to make fun of you.
Anyways, do you remember what you felt like when you found out there really isn't a Santa. You probably felt stupid and a bunch of other things. Like you couldn't trust anyone. A lot of people tell kids there's a Santa (like my mom tells my little brother) but I don't agree w/ it.

  • Hey, WHAT'S UP WELL I THINK THAT IT DOSEN'T MATTER IF PARENTS LIE TO THERE KIDS ABOUT SANTA OR NOT IT DOSEN'T REALLY MATTER BUT IT IS A LOT MORE FUN IF YOU DO BECAUSE KIDS LOVE THE THOUGH OF SANTA COMING AND BRNGING THEM PRESENTS BUT IT IS WHAT EVER THE PARENTS CHOOSE.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Saturday, December 16, 2006 9:19:00 PM

  • I think that parents should tell their children about santa because though he might not exist now he was a man that did exist and he gave out toys to children and didnt expect things back, sort of like what Jesus (who we are celebrating about) would do dont ya'll think? thats my opinion at least

  • I think it's okay, it's a fun thing for kids. After a while they'll most likely realize it's not possible anyway!

  • There is a santa clause. I wrote a letter to him in the mail, and didn't tell my mom and dad what I asked for. And on christmas morning, i got what I wanted. So there is a sant clause.
